Neal Edward O'Connor, 88, of Hilton Head Island died Friday, July 5, 2013 at the Fraser Health Center. He was born December 14, 1924 in Battle Creek, Michigan, son of Edward and Marie O'Connor. After serving in the Army Air Corp during World War II, he attended The University of Michigan, graduating in 1952 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He worked for General Motors Corporation, Fisher Body Division as a Process Development Engineer until retiring after 33 years in 1985. After retirement, Neal served as a consultant in Welding and Metal Finishing Techniques for various Automotive Companies in the Detroit, Michigan area. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Barbara and two daughters, Joyce O'Connor of Madison Heights, Michigan and Pat Elliott (Tom) of Cobleskill, New York, Three granddaughters Leah Elliott, Robin Elliott and Karen Orlowski. Neal and Barbara lived in Michigan until 1996 when they moved to Sun City here in the low country. In 2005 they moved to The Seabrook of Hilton Head where Neal had 8 very happy years. A Celebration of Life reception will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2013 from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. in The Seabrook living room. Donations can be made to Hospice Care of the Lowcountry, P.O.
