Lt CMDR Ralph Randall Maddox (US Navy Retired) Ralph Maddox peacefully joined the eternal presence of God at 6:00am on Fri, September 27, 2013 from his home and in the presence of his loving and devoted wife Mimi Maddox, his daughter, Carol Bessinger and other family members. Ralph was a caring husband and father of 3 children whom he cherished dearly. Upon retirement he and his wife settled for the most recent 13 years in Hilton Head Island, SC where Ralph frequently enjoyed the many golf courses. Forever smiling, Ralph enjoyed meeting new friends and neighbors while walking his dogs, Ridley and Winston, as well as volunteering his computer expertise at the local community center to help others. He is lovingly survived by his devoted wife, Mimi Maddox of Hilton Head Island, SC; son Randy (Nancy) Maddox of Alexandria, VA; daughter Carol (Paul) Bessinger of Columbia, SC; son Scott (Linda) Maddox of South Riding, VA; sister Myrna (Robert) Waddell of Baltimore, MD; sister Gerry (Frank) Leslie of Palm Bay, FL; sister Wanda Maddox (Lorne Kenyon) of Bellingham, WA; sister Judy (Patrick) Perry of Flower Mound, TX; brother Joseph (Marty) Maddox of Seminole, FL; brother Porter Maddox (Barbara Guysenir) of Austin, TX; 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren with a 4th due in November and his beloved pet kids, Ridley and Winston. A memorial service will be held at a later date. The family greatly appreciates the outpouring of love and support from so many. To honor Ralph and the care provided by Hospice the family suggests respects be made through donations to Hospice Care in care of Hospice Care of the Lowcountry, PO Box 3827, Bluffton, SC 29910 or online at Ralph's physical presence will be missed by many but his smile and grace will always be felt in their hearts. The Island Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the family.
