Karen Gene Dorl LoSapio 1951 – 2013 Karen Gene Dorl LoSapio was born April 7, 1951 in Keyport, NJ to Helen (Raskasky) and Eugene Dorl. We lost Karen much too soon when she passed in her sleep on April 22, 2013 in her home on Hilton Head Island, SC. A graduate of Keyport High School and Berkeley Secretarial School, Karen enjoyed a successful career with Coopers & Lybrand in New York City, as proprietor of The Enchanted Florist in Keyport, and most recently at McNair Law Firm in Hilton Head Island, SC. Karen will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She was a proud, devoted and loving mother who was adored by her sons, Ryan LoSapio, and Michael LoSapio both of Hilton Head. She was a caring sister to Nancy (Dorl) Newman, Keyport and a much loved aunt to niece Jean (Newman) and her husband Michael Bartels and their children Mike and Lexi, Hazlet and Marc Newman, Keyport. Karen was much loved by her extended family, the Raskaskys, the Dorls, in-laws the LoSapios and step brothers and sisters, the McCutcheons. She was predeceased by her parents Helen and Gene. Karen was a role model to all who knew her. Daily she exhibited, grace even under dire or challenging circumstances, and a powerful love of family and friends. Karen enjoyed relationships with lifelong friends and easily built new friendships in her adopted home of Hilton Head Island. Her boys and her family were paramount to her and this was evident in all that she did to love and mentor those close to her. Karen possessed a creative flair, and was always trying new crafts, decorating her lovely home, helping someone decorate or throw a party or showing up in a stunning outfit. When she loved you, you knew it…she couldn't hide her feelings! Karen left us much too soon, and left a hole in our hearts and our family that no one can ever fill. A gathering to celebrate Karen's life will be held on Thursday, April 25th, 2013 at 3:00 at the pool house at the Preserve at Indigo Run. Her family and friends are invited to join us to bid our fond farewell. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Breast Cancer Society Inc., www.breastcancersociety.org. The Island Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements. www.theislandfuneralhome.com.
