Jean C. Soldo of Hilton Head Island, SC, 91, passed away Friday September 20, 2013 peacefully in her sleep. Jean was born Jean Cerruto to Emanuel Cerruto and Josephine Cerruto Napolitano in New York City on May 2, 1922. She married Anthony L. Soldo, deceased1987. Tony and Jean had two boys, Robert A. Soldo, deceased 1998, and Ronald M. Soldo, living in Hilton Head Is, SC Jean was a trend-setting career woman in NYC, when high power executive careers for woman weren't fashionable. She rose to the ranks of President and part owner of Watson Coal Company, NYC, one of the largest domestic coal exporters to overseas countries. Jean was also one of the first female members of the world-famous Downtown Athletic Club, NYC, who annually award The Heisman Trophy for the best player in college football. After her long and illustrious career in NYC business Jean owned and operated Lynhouse Liquors for 16 years in Lynbrook, Long Island, NY. Most local residents said she was more famous and more well-known than the mayor of Lynbrook. In 2004, at the age of 84, Jean moved to Hilton Head Is, SC to be close to her immediate family. As a resident of The Tidepointe Community, Jean became everyone's friend and became involved in many of the activities. She especially loved to go to Happy Hour to take olives from her friend's martinis since she did not drink herself! It was her way of participating and interacting with her many beloved friends at Tidepointe. Jean is survived by a large and loving family. Ron, her son, and Mary Ann Soldo live in Hilton Head Island, SC. Jean has five grandchildren, Christina Soldo Lindstedt of Hilton Head Is, SC, Matthew Soldo of San Francisco, California, Brian Soldo of Brooklyn, NY, Elissa Soldo Mostransky of Huntington, NY, Jon Soldo of Huntington, NY and her daughter-in-law, Linda M Soldo of Centerport NY. Jean's love of her life are eight great grand children, Cole Michael Lindstedt, 5, Tyler Andrew Lindstedt, 2, Sophia Elizabeth Soldo, 3, Anderson James Soldo, 1, Kellan Joseph Mostransky, 5, Jason Robert Mostransky, 3, Eric Christopher Mostransky, 1, Avery Philip Soldo 1.Her brother Salvatore Cerruto, his wife Barbara, and their 4 daughters, Dana Cooney, Lisa Cancro, Gina Guenther and Audra Primavera, and their 10 grandchildren also survive her. Joseph P Cerruto, brother, passed away in 1993. The family will receive friends and family at The Flinch & Bruns Funeral Home in Lynbrook, Long Island, NY on Thursday September 26, 2013 from 6:30-9pm. After a short reception on Friday morning, a funeral mass in Jean Soldo's honor will take place at 9am at Our Lady of Peace Roman Catholic Church in Lynbrook, NY. Interment will take place immediately after mass at The Cemetery of the Holy Rood, Westbury, NY A memorial service for Jean will also take place at The Tidepointe Community in Hilton Head Is, SC on Thursday October 3rd at 1:30pm.
