James Leslie Rollins Jr., 80, of Hilton Head passed in the early morning hours of Monday April 29, 2013 after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Jim was born in Evanston, Illinois, September 14, 1932 to James Leslie Rollins and Helen Barbara Greer. He was one of three children. He married Norma Buttars of Clarkston, Utah on September 28th 1962 in Logan Utah. Jim was an Electrical Engineer and worked on many radio and radar communication systems for the military and government. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and gave many hours of service in various capacities. He served three years active duty in the Navy and then 17 years in the Naval Reserves. He retired as a Lieutenant Commander. Jim was preceded in death by his parents J. Leslie and Helen Barbara and his brother Michael. He is survived by his wife Norma Buttars Rollins, a sister Meredith (Myron), children James (Rebecca), John, Susan, (Thad), Richard (Jennifer) and 17 grandchildren. Services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, located at 2800 Meeting St. Hilton Head, on Thursday, May 2nd. Visitation will be from 10 am to 11 am., with the funeral service at 11 am. The Island Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements. www.theislandfuneralhome.com.
