James "Jim" Ferguson of Hilton Head Island passed away on Saturday, April 27th, 2013 at the age of 59. He is survived by his father Eugene K. "Gene" Ferguson; 1st wife Nancy Edwards, mother of Ben and Tim, 2nd wife Michelle Ferguson , mother of Megan; three children , Ben (Tracy) Ferguson, Tim Ferguson, and Megan Ferguson, all of Hilton Head Island; brother Gary (Pam) Ferguson of Kansas and sister Nancy Ferguson-Noyes (William) of Maine. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Colleen Ferguson, just this past August. Jim devoted his life to being a loving father, an amazing friend, and a true inspiration. Jim enjoyed his 25 year real estate career, a profession he truly loved, working with his many adored clients and friends. His legacy and developed real estate business will remain thriving into the future guided by his spirit, memories and sons. He was also an avid golfer, and enjoyed nothing more than to be out on the links with family, friends, or in competition. He was not only known as a champion golfer in the low country, but capped of an amazing amateur career with an appearance in the U.S. Senior Open in 2010. His love of golf will live on as a founding member of Old South Golf Links. He was an icon for Hilton Head Island and will truly be missed, but for his charismatic energy and spirited ways, will be forever remembered. A celebration memorial will be held on Thursday, May 2nd at St. Andrew By the Sea United Methodist Church at 3pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Boys and Girls Club of Hilton Head Island "In Memory of Jim Ferguson" at 151 Gumtree Road, Hilton Head Island, SC, 29926. Donations will benefit the 1st Tee Golf initiative program. The Island Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements. www.theislandfuneralhome.com.
