Francis G O'Donnell "Frank" 12/27/36 – 8/11/13 Born and raised in Boston MA Master Degree in Education from Boston State Teachers College (University of Massachusetts/Boston) 1962 – 1964 Worked for the Department of Defense as a teacher in Germany 1966 – Moved to Maine to work for The Job Corps for several years. Upon leaving the Job Corps, he worked for the Federal Model Cities program in Portland Maine and then worked for the State of Maine Department of Mental Health & Mental Retardation as Director of Staff Development, Education and Training until his retirement. Frank moved to HHI in 1992. Frank enjoyed traveling and was able to visit all 7 continents. He really enjoyed regaling his friends with his adventures. He was very active in the Lifelong Learning Program here on the Island as well as a regular participant at the Chapel Without Walls. While in Maine, he was very active in the Maine Jaycees for years as well as being active in the Maine Democratic Party where, in 1975, he served as a delegate for Jimmy Carter at the National Democratic Convention. He was a lifelong sports fan cheering on his beloved Red Sox, Patriots & Gamecocks. Frank leaves behind 2 daughters, Kara O'Donnell of Auburn Maine & Amy O'Donnell of Durham North Carolina, a granddaughter, Alexandra Wilcox of Auburn Maine, 2 great grandsons, Calvin & Keenan Keith also of Auburn Maine as well as many friends here on HHI as well as in Maine. A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 16, 2013, at 2:00 PM, at The Chapel Without Walls, (Beth Yam Synagogue), 4501 Meeting St.. The Island Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
